Social networking sites have gained huge popularity recently. Some of these Social Networking sites let users save bookmark, some allow to share links and stories, some of them provide a platform to interact at personal level whereas some networking sites help to grow professional circumference of individuals.
How these sites can help promote business?
The advantage with these sites is, it is easy to understand the preferences of users. The websites bookmarked by the users reflect their taste and preferences. Once the nature, choices and preferences of a person are known, it is easy to get some business from the particular subject. The theory is somehow similar to Google AdSense program. It displays ads based on the theme of the page; hence chances of clicking are higher.
This time it’s Microsoft who is going to grab the opportunity! Microsoft will be displaying ads on Digg.com for next 3 years and it has been started from this past July. People have started to realize that Networks are the best places to sell ads in the era of Web 2.0. Long live Networks.
Hutch in India is now ‘Vodafone’! The new commercial is going to be circulated all over the country in different channels. The visual campaign is expected to cross Rs. 300 crore (3000 million). 400,000 recharge coupon outlets, thousands of billboards and 10,000s of shop signs are also to be replaced soon.
Hopefully there will be some banner ads beside the streets and roads; similar like what India experienced during the transition of UTI Bank to Axis Bank. It seems that the world trade is undergoing a huge bang! Biggies are acquiring new companies randomly. It won’t be bad if a separate category is created for Acquisitions in w3guru-india!
Mashable covered the news back in January this year! The rumor started spreading in November 2006! However, Mashable confirmed the acquisition of MyBlogLog by Yahoo! for $10 million.
However, it is not secret any more. MyBlogLog is now displaying the Yahoo! tag and members are requested to log in with Yahoo! id. Google took a hold on Blogger and then bought FeedBurner to penetrate in the blogging world. Yahoo! purchased MyBlogLog. It seems Search Engines are giving a lot of importance to Blogs. It won’t be surprising if in future traditional websites vanish and Blogs cover the whole websphere!

After releasing the Premier Edition of Google Apps and coupling with Capgemini, Google has released an alternative of Microsoft PowerPoint. Google Docs now have the option to upload Presentations along with Word Processor and Spreadsheet.
Since Google has targeted the corporate world mostly with the Apps, an option to create Slide Show or Presentation would definitely attract more users. Presentation is an important part of business reporting and analysis. So it is obviously another good move from Google.
Added to that Google Presentations can be embedded to websites! Matt Cutts has mentioned about the possibility of embedding Presentations in Website using iFrame, though Matt Cutts is not sure about the ’security implications’.
