Google India ties up with NIIT to offer Digital Marketing Education

India has started realizing the power of Internet. New media and online marketing can make life simpler – Indian businesses and Indian citizens have finally come to terms to the fact. With increasing popularity of internet marketing, the country has felt the need of expert professionals in the field. To bridge the gap educational institutes have jumped in.

The scope of Digital Marketing Education in India is so high that Google is also competing to have its slice in the pie. Google India in association with NIIT has introduced ‘Advanced Online Advertising’ program.

The program highlights on many aspects of online marketing; it also offers hands-on experience of running online advertising campaigns. Graduates in any discipline with 2 years work experience can join the program. Google-NIIT Imperia certificate will be awarded to the candidates after completing the course of study successfully. According to the announcement on Google Blog the course is already available at 17 centers of NIIT across the country from October 5, 2010.

Unlike other digital marketing programs in the country offered by the organizations like Indian Institute of Creative Marketing, IMRI or Internet and Mobile Institute of India the program offered by Google is more focused towards its global advertising program Google AdWords.

So providing education is not the primary objective here. According to a recent report published by The Economic Times, Google has spotted 35 million Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) in India among which only 200,000 has an online presence. And it’s not that all 200,000 SMEs are using Google AdWrods. Grass is Green!
